End of Year Reflection: Senior Year

e-Communications has been very fun and an overall great experience that has taught me many skills that being, technical, communication, management, leadership, and collaborative skills.  I learn how to use technology better thanks to e-Comm, how to manage a busy schedule, how to work in a team better, and how to show leadership when needed. Between normal school work, e-Comm, and work, the week can get very busy and learning to manage and prioritize was tough. I know in the future, being able to manage a busy schedule will be a necessity, and I am safe to say that I’m ready for it. My top three project from this year are the commercial, PSA, and music video with the music video being my favorite out of the three. The music video was the quickest as it was at a perfect time for everyone and everyone was available for shooting it, the video is definitely the best video I'm able to put my name on, other than the feature films of course. The vast majority of the feedback given was

Film Reel 2020 -2021

Image
This is my film reel for 2020. It is composed of three projects: Lazy Sunday, The Date, and Monopoly Commercial. The style I was trying to convey in it was a more fun, light-heart style as it is the first film reel I made composed of just comedy. In this film reel I tried going for music that had good energy but wasn't meant to be very energetic as I felt a problem that I had in my last film reel was the energy of the song didn't match some of the clips. When looking for the music for the reel, I wanted to go with a song that had no chance of getting copyright claimed as the last film reel song was the instrumentals to "Treasure" by Bruno Mars Something else I was looking to improve was going from a shaky shot to a steady shot as I remembered that I gave a disorienting feel when watch the reel. To solve the problem I removed shots that had too much shake in them and shots that were mildly shaking and shots that where steady where put together. I tried to get the

Commercial Blog Post

INTRODUCTION This year has had its ups and downs and downs, especially with the coronavirus pandemic. The virus made doing projects involving multiple people, such as video entertainment, much more difficult to pull off as having more people increases the chances of the virus spreading. Nevertheless e-Communication was still able to safely pull off filming session in creative ways. During the Month of October we filmed persuasive commercial projects to sell products. The team I was apart of made a relatable monopoly commercial. MONOPOLY COMMERCIAL The commercial was about a family playing monopoly competitively. Each person was trying their very best to win the commercial. In pre-production we tossed ideas around as to what we were going to do until we came up with a perfect commercial idea. The first version of the commercial was a much bigger project that was based on a live action version of monopoly where people would actually pretend to be real estate investors and grow a empire

film reel 1969 + 51

1969 + 51= 2020 film reel In the winter of 2020, we were assigned a project called a film reel. A film reel is where you get a combination of all your films that fit a style that you're going for. Looking at my film reel I was going for a style that was high energy and funny. For example I only used comedies and had a high energy song behind. The concept I wanted to portray was fun vibes to lighten a bad day, hints why this is a film reel that focuses on being fun to watch. In both films I helped edit, did preproduction and help with the cinematography. While editing the film reel I made sure to make the clips switch from beat to beat to keep the pace fast and attention grabbing. I also made sure to make the scenes correspond with each other. For example in the date I, the actor shows the camera a poem and the next scene is him reading the poem to the class. I would say that I should have added all of my comedies even ones from sophomore year, so I could make it twice as long ;ho

Junior Year, Video Entertainment, Semester Uno

This Semester we did 3 projects: Camera Assignment,  Commercial, and A Short Film. The Camera Assignment was focused on hitting six types of shots that consist of Extreme-Closeup, Closeup, Medium, Wide Shot, Extreme Wide, Over The Shoulder, and Point of View. Using those six shots we would create a film sing the key principles of film making: Directing, Lighting, Audio, Editing, Writing, Cinematography. The rest of the project was of our own vision. With the project scheduling was the biggest problem as it was an inconvenient time for everyone. Out of the three films this one was the only one were I think I could have done more to help and make the film.  For the Commercial project we had to sell a product using a video that is either 15, 30, or 60 seconds long. My group did a Beats By Dre commercial and the same key principles of filming were just as important as the last project and will continue to stay important all the way through out a film career. This project was better than t

Short Film (final)

Image
Short Film (Final)  from April to May, me and five others worked on a short film for video class. The video was the hardest as we needed to have 3-5 minutes worth of footage as opposed to 1-2 minutes. The video was also not a parody like the movie trailer project. Before the project we had to completely change the script leaving only one shot in from it in the final video. This was a massive hurdle as we didn't start out with a good script (sorry).  When filming we found out that we were missing a storyboard, a crucial part to filming, and instead we needed to make up some shots resulting in a very very long shot. The film was a goofy comedy about a gamer who got robbed by a unskilled robber. While the video was very successful in making people laugh at funny scenes. The video was still with flaws such as we didn't show footage of the robber going up stairs after the fact of he was behind the gamer when he started looking for the robber. Another small but still a challenge was

Movie Trailer Project

Background context For the past month me and a team of 5 have been working on a group project for e-Comm about remaking a trailer that takes place in a school setting. The project was a harder one as it was the first time that we needed the actors to actually talk. The struggle to manage time and to record good footage for the video was evermore present in this project. Main project gist The first week was a slow week as we didn't tackle the project early to get more time to edit the final product; however, we are still on schedule and ready to finish the project on time. We did more the second week as we filmed the school scenes. The scenes were more of ok rather than spot on to the trailer. The rest of the week we planned on what the locations would be and when we would film. In the next week we filmed the rest of the footage that we needed to finish the video. The biggest problem with the filming schedule was time to edit. We ended up not having enough time to edit the vid
