Commercial Blog Post

 INTRODUCTION

This year has had its ups and downs and downs, especially with the coronavirus pandemic. The virus made doing projects involving multiple people, such as video entertainment, much more difficult to pull off as having more people increases the chances of the virus spreading. Nevertheless e-Communication was still able to safely pull off filming session in creative ways. During the Month of October we filmed persuasive commercial projects to sell products. The team I was apart of made a relatable monopoly commercial.

MONOPOLY COMMERCIAL

The commercial was about a family playing monopoly competitively. Each person was trying their very best to win the commercial. In pre-production we tossed ideas around as to what we were going to do until we came up with a perfect commercial idea. The first version of the commercial was a much bigger project that was based on a live action version of monopoly where people would actually pretend to be real estate investors and grow a empire of properties. We had to scale the project back to a more common setting of monopoly where we have a family playing the game and getting mad.

MY ROLE

I was the script writer for the commercial and handled the vast majority of the pre-production phase. This helped a lot with my planning skills, while I usually have great long-term thinking, I didn't know everything that went into the pre-production of a film. The commercial was a great booster on my pre-production skills. However, While I enjoyed the pre-production I would have pick a audio supervisor role along side script writing as I've been studying audio on the side for a while now. This project has taught a lot about scheduling and how important it is to get the call sheets down to perfection almost to make sure everyone is on the same page.
